FCCdata v. 1812.20.09.13.HOTFIX release notes:
FCCdata v. 1812.20.09.13.HOTFIX release notes:
We have have moved over the new FM engineering module to the production system.
This is a complete rewrite of the module.
This module controls the left part of the screen where the FM facilities with engineering show up.
This is a temporary hotfix to bring the system back to some form of stability.
Radio History Project FM records are temporarily unavailable.
Some obsolete functionality (such as auction 83 translator details, LPFM dismissal reasons and Class C4 information) has been removed from this version.
REC has completed a full parse of all FCC ownership report data from LMS as a part of the eLMS Project.
REC will soon have offerings to view this data via user interface and through open data.
Over the Labor Day weekend, we have trued-up thousands of CDBS FM engineering records into the eLMS data store. We have also trued up thousands of FM contour maps.
eLMS will split the current internal master application list that REC uses to separate tables for AM, FM, shortwave and 3 for TV. We are currently working on the AM table.
REC plans to construct a parallel version of FCCdata for development purposes thus to reduce the interruption to the current offering.
REC has added a new eLMS application parser to support LMS ownership reports. This is to address the defective raw ownership report data received from the FCC. An overnight process will run until further notice that will capture more than 19,000 ownership reports filed between 2017 and now.
This enhancement and mining operation will result in a quality data store that will permit REC and others to evaluate diversity in ownership and determine attributable interests.
On FM records, FCCdata will now show the originating source of an application such as (CDBS) or (LMS). This will show next to the application ID number. (REC internally generated application IDs are now specifically noted). Applications that are directly from eLMS will show as (eLMS).
For FM ungranted MOD/CP applications, the ERP will come from eLMS data and will show with an (LMS/eLMS) indcator next to the application ID number.
A new eLMS function now obtains service contour data from the FCC Contours API based on GLOBE30 terrain data and stores in an eLMS table.
Contour maps for FM engineering applications filed after September 25, 2019 and filed in LMS now use eLMS contour data whenever possible. This will hopefully resolve some of the issues that we have been having with the previous method of calculating field strength curve distances (which was done locally) causing some strange artifacts on contour maps (such as the "wings" effect on deep nulls in directional antennas).
As HAAT and ERP is not manually entered on LPFM (Schedule 318) forms like they are with other broadcast services, many times the information carried on an FCC form is incorrect as it may reflect the previous location.
This enhancement adds functionality that on all LPFM (FL) applications with type codes MOD, MODA, CP and CPA, eLMS will call the FCC Contours HAAT API to obtain correct HAAT and then use that HAAT to calculate new ERP.
New schema field table reclms_fmeng haat_elms_calc will indicate "Y" if this method was used.
eLMS is a product of REC Networks in an effort to improve on the raw data product currently offered by the Federal Communications Commission for broadcast applications filed in the FCC’s License Management System (LMS). eLMS parses the information directly from the filed applications and then places it into a database that can be used throughout the REC system universe.
eLMS Enhancements – First weekend project.
REC is working on a major project to address the shortcomings of the raw data that is provided by the FCC since FM radio converted to the LMS system on September 25, 2019.
Rebuilt system to obtain listener counts. Information on Twitter playlists now display correct counts.
Built new interface to Disogs to get cover art for Delmarva FM (REC-FM). The system will cache cover art. Any cover art that we do not have, the system will attempt to retrieve the cover art from DIscogs.
We will eventually build a similar ability for J1.
This cover art only covers what is viewed on the recnet.com home page and on the J1/Delmarva FM popup "J-Player". The mobile app, TuneIn and Roku get their cover art from their own system sources.
If no cover art is available, the Delmarva-FM logo will be displayed.
A new widget appears on the left sidebar of the recnet.com website which displays any non-operational conditions that are currently reported on the REC Operational Status Page (recnet.com/motd).
New functionality has been added for when scheduled database updates take place, the Operational Status Page and Status Widget will get automatically updated with an orange "Updating" status. The Status Page will give details of which databases are being updated.
Please show your support by using the Ko-Fi link at the bottom of the page. Thank you for supporting REC's efforts!
